I was very fortunate to have had a mentor when first beginning my career in Human Resources. He had more confidence in my abilities than I did; in fact, I turned him down when he first made me a job offer. He eventually convinced me that I should take a risk and it was the decision that launched my 25+ year career in human resources. Later in my career, I worked for a CEO who had a different style so I had the opportunity of, not only honing my skillls in the people management business, but working with people of very different and unique leadership skills.
Now it’s my turn. I have mentored those HR professionals who have reported to me as well as many leaders in the organizations I’ve worked. It is such a rewarding experience to be on either side of the mentoring table.
